Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), emphasized the necessity of unifying the Peshmerga forces during his discussions with military delegations from the international coalition, diplomats, and representatives of many countries in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Furthermore, he highlighted: "We have persevered in our efforts to bring together the forces of the 70th and 80th. The PUK wants the Peshmerga forces to serve and bring peace to the Kurdistan Region, and for this, we have not hesitated."

President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated in previous meetings and interviews regarding the unification of the Peshmerga forces, "We are working hard to overcome the challenges and aim to create a powerful national force that serves the highest interests, but the process must remain impartial and free of private interests."

Qubad Talabani:  Peshmerga ministry's reform process must not become sluggish
On the occasion of the return of Peshmerga Minister Shorsh Ismail to his official duties, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani said: "Differences between political parties are to be expected, but they should not be manifested internally within the ministry." He also said, "It is critical that ministry officers and senior officials work together harmoniously and professionally."

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the significance of reorganizing the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces and implementing the reform process, stating: "We value the coordination and cooperation of our allies, and the reform process must not become sluggish and feeble in the future."
70th Forces Spokesman: Two brigades are prepared to be unified
Ahmad Latif, the Spokesperson for the 70th Forces of the Peshmerga, stated to PUKMEDIA: "Previously, under the rule of Mam Jalal and currently under the leadership of President Bafel, the PUK has tirelessly worked towards consolidating the Peshmerga forces and aspires for the Kurdistan Region to have a unified national military force."

He further explained: "Currently, 26 Peshmerga brigades have been unified, and two more brigades are set to merge, increasing the total number of joint brigades to 28. As the 70th Forces, we have declared our willingness to join our whole force under the banner of a national force since reform of the Peshmerga Ministry and unification of the Peshmerga forces have been our and our allies' demands, and we worked tirelessly to unify the Peshmerga forces."
Osman Sedari: A strong force grants us a tranquil Region
Osman Sedari, the Deputy Chairman of the Peshmerga Committee in the fifth session of the Kurdistan Parliament, stated to PUKMEDIA: "Upon the Peshmerga Minister's return, we anticipate significant reforms inside the Peshmerga Ministry. This development represents a positive move by the PUK, particularly following the fifth congress that ushered in a new era of cooperation and tranquility with other political parties and the government."

"It is necessary for the Kurdish parties to reach a consensus regarding the establishment of a national military force in the Kurdistan Region. This will ultimately contribute to enhancing peace and stability in both the Kurdistan Region and the surrounding area," he said. "The PUK's initiative to recommence reforms in the Peshmerga Ministry is a commendable and constructive move."

The PUK has consistently made efforts to consolidate the Peshmerga forces. Previously, under the guidance of President Mam Jalal, and currently, on the recommendation of President Bafel, the PUK remains committed to its ongoing efforts to unite the Peshmerga forces. Previously, the unification of the Peshmerga forces was hindered by the battle against ISIS and political disputes in the region. However, the PUK has now taken steps to revitalize the process of unification and reform inside the Peshmerga Ministry, which is also a demand from the allies.

During its fifth congress, the PUK prioritized the consolidation of the Peshmerga forces within the Peshmerga Ministry. The President of the PUK has consistently advocated for the unification of the Peshmerga forces, with the aim of establishing a national force that safeguards Kurdistan and gains recognition from allied nations.
