As Armenian Consul General Arshak Manukyan wrapped up his term in the Kurdistan Region, he paid a farewell visit to Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, and the two discussed ways to deepen their ties.

Qubad Talabani praised Manukyan during the meeting on Thursday in Erbil for his contribution to fostering closer ties between the two countries as the first Armenian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region. He had high hopes for the next consul general to carry on in the same direction, particularly in the areas of higher education, developing Kurdish archives, and intercultural ties.

Talabani expressed his condolences for the recent events in the Nagorno-Karabakh Region and wished for a swift and peaceful resolution to the conflicts there.

The meeting also addressed relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. In this regard, Talabani emphasized the importance of swiftly resolving issues related to the implementation of the budget law, and he deemed it necessary for political parties in Baghdad to consider the Kurdistan Region's most important interests and defend the region's constitutional rights with a unified voice.
