Kurdish factions in the Iraqi parliament are concerned that the New Generation faction is appropriating their projects and claiming them as their own. The Finance Committee does not include any members of the New Generation. They claim, however, that it was their advocacy that resulted in the inclusion of returning salary savings in the Iraqi budget bill.

The Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament approved the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) faction's proposal to include the return of the salary savings of the Kurdistan Region employees in the Iraqi budget bill for 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Dr. Narmin Maruf, a member of the Iraqi Parliament's Finance Committee and MP of the PUK faction, told PUKMEDIA: "The PUK faction had submitted three proposals to the Finance Committee, which included giving priority to employees' salaries, fair distribution of provinces' shares, and the return of salary savings to employees."

We secretly submit projects because of the New Generation
"Our faction secretly submits projects so that the New Generation faction does not take our projects," Chro Hama Sharif, a member of the Iraqi parliament from the PUK faction, told PUKMEDIA. "When our projects provide positive outcomes, such as the return of salary savings, the New Generation starts social media campaigns and claims that it is their project to the public."

"Not only the PUK faction, but all Iraqi factions, including the Arab factions, have realized that their only job is to take other factions' projects and create media backlash, despite the fact that they did not submit any projects and the New Generation has no members on the finance committee," she stated.

"The PUK faction made efforts to include the return of salary savings through its member in the Finance Committee, Dr. Narmin Maruf, but the New Generation tries to distort this fact and claim it as its own project," she continued.

"The New Generation, as they say, is working on lying—lie, lie, lie until people believe you. Even if not everyone believes you, half of them will," she added, "because this is the direction of the New Generation's service, and the people of the Kurdistan Region and even factions in the Iraqi parliament are aware of this fact."
Nothing but lies and media backlash
Dr. Musana Amin, the leader of the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) faction in the Iraqi parliament, responded to a report by the pro-New Generation media, NRT, and said: "The New Generation collects signatures without our knowledge and later misleads the public by claiming that the PUK, the KDP, the KIU, and the Kurdistan Islamic Group did not support them."

"These are nothing but lies and media backlash and are far from the truth," he added.
