Iraqi First Lady visits Sulaymaniyah Court
Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed, the first lady of Iraq, visited the Sulaymaniyah Court on Tuesday and was welcomed by Judge Jassim Jaza and Jaafar Hawrami, the head of the Sulaymaniyah Court of Appeal.
The primary purpose of the visit was to show support for the court, underline its independence and sovereignty,
The Deputy Presidents of the Court attended the meeting, during which they discussed how the courts and other judicial institutions are doing overall in Kurdistan and specifically in the province of Sulaymaniyah.
The Court's President highlighted the issues the courts face in carrying out their duties, the most significant of which is a shortage of judges, judicial investigators, and staff, including insufficient funds for the courts.
In response, the first lady of Iraq commented about the significance of the court's role in preserving social security, reducing crime and violence, and restoring rights to their owners, saying: "We stand ready to provide whatever coordination or help necessary to uphold the independence of the judicial institutions, protect the sovereignty of the court, and ensure that its rulings are carried out."
