On Monday, May 15, 2023, at Mustansiriyah University in Baghdad, the subject of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and its political impact in Iraq, as well as the significance of Sulaymaniyah University in the Kurdish cultural movement, was once more brought up.
At Mustansiriyah University in Baghdad, two Arab students presented a master's thesis on "Establishment of Sulaymaniyah University and its Role in Intellectual and Political Development from 1968 to 1992" and a doctoral thesis on "History of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and its Political Role and Influence in Iraq" in front of a large audience.
The PUK and Sulaymaniyah University re-enter Mustansiriyah UniversityOn May 15, 2023, Kurds at Mustansiriyah University, in contrast to previous years, had a significant presence in the doctoral thesis of student Ali Azhib Rahima, which was focused on the political role of the PUK in Iraq from 1975 to 1992, according to Karwan Anwar, a member of the PUK Media Bureau and a participant in the two theses.
Ayat Ahmad wrote a master's thesis on Sulaymaniyah University's founding and contribution to the Kurdish cultural movement.
"The doctoral thesis discussed the history of the PUK and its role and influence in Iraq, which lasted for 5 hours and was accepted with excellent grades," stated Anwar to PUKMEDIA. "
The master's letter and the doctoral thesis will be turned into a bookThe PUK delegation from Sulaymaniyah promised to publish the doctoral and master's thesis as a book.
The PUK delivered flowers and an assurance that their theses would be published to the two successful students, according to Anwar.
"After the long separations that the PUK had in Baghdad after the passing of Mam Jalal," he continued, "today was one of those days that we felt we had returned to the era when the late President Mam Jalal was in Baghdad."
The status of the PUK is being debated at Iraq's most respected universityThe establishment of Sulaymaniyah University and the history of the PUK were two main issues discussed in Baghdad today. These two subjects may not be unique to the educational process, but they are politically significant to restoring Kurdish academic stature in Iraqi educational institutions and universities. More crucially, two Arab students in Baghdad today spoke openly about the Kurds, the PUK, and Sulaymaniyah University, all of which had vanished in recent years due to the Ba'ath Party.
