Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, arrived in Baghdad on Monday, January 30, 2023, and met with several Iraqi officials to discuss the relations between the two governments of Baghdad and Erbil and to work out a solution to the outstanding issues.

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with Ammar Al-Hakim, the leader of the Iraqi Wisdom Movement, to talk about political developments in Iraq and the relationship between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Both parties emphasized the significance of establishing a supportive political environment for the federal government to carry out its agenda. They also agreed that political dialogue should continue in order to resolve any unresolved differences between Baghdad and Erbil within the parameters of the Constitution, to preserve the public interest, and to uphold the principle of equality of duties and rights.

The situation in the Kurdistan Region was also covered, and it was emphasized that "political forces must build political stability and peace for the public interest."

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani also met with Mohamed Al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, to discuss the overall situation and a number of laws that are within the government's agenda.

To resolve the lingering concerns in accordance with the constitution, it was emphasized the significance of dialogue and collaboration between the federal government and the KRG.
