UN chief condemns deadly attack in Zakho, calls for Immediate Investigation

UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, condemns the deadly artillery shelling in the Zakho district of Dohuk Governorate, that reportedly killed Nine civilians and injured 23 others.

"The Secretary-General calls for a prompt and thorough investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and to ensure accountability." Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General, said.

"The Secretary-General expresses his deepest condolences to the victims' families and wishes the injured a speedy recovery." He added.

Turkish forces bombed a tourist resort in Duhok’s Zakho district, Nine tourists were martyred, and 23 others were injured. read more

The tourists arrived from Iraq's central and southern governorates.
