An amount of petrol provided by the Iraqi federal government is scheduled to arrive at the city of Slemani, the mayor of Slemani announced on Monday.
Awat Muhammad, the mayor of Slemani, said in a statement that the fuel provided was by the federal government with the efforts of Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
The provided petrol will be sold for 690 dinars per liter. The federal government had previously suspended the process due to issues with the KRG.
According to Slemani's mayor, the federal government will continue sending petrol.
The step comes amid rising in fuel prices in the Kurdistan Region due to a rise in global oil prices.
