Asayish forces stationed at Sulaymaniyah, Garmian border crossings

the Asayish forces were deployed and stationed at the border crossings withing the borders of Sulaymaniyah governorate on Monday following the decision issued by Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
On Sunday, Qubad Talabani issued decisions deploy Sulaymaniyah Asayish forces at all offcial and unofficial border crossings surrounding Garmian and Sulaymaniyah. The decision aims to confront smugglers, violators of the law, and those who violate the instructions and decisions issued by the KRG. read more
The decision was put into force on Monday morning where the Asayish forces reached the official border crossings of Parvezkhan and Bashmakh, as well as other unofficial border crossings.
There are four official border crossings in the Kurdistan Region. Three are between the Kurdistan Region and Iran border, which are Haji Omaran in Erbil, Bashmakh in Sulaymaniyah, and Parvezkhan in the Garmian administration. There is also Ibrahim Khalil which is between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. There are also many other unofficial border crossings.
The Deputy PM has recently issued some decisions in a move to make reforms and reorganize the administration in the city of Sulayamaniyah.
This step is considered an important beginning for reform, the rule of law, and the protection of public rights from corruption.
The decisions also included a reconstruction campaign to restore and beautify Sulaymaniyah city which has begun a few days ago, as well as seizing vehicles with no registration papers along with other reforms. read more
