UNAMI conducts a two-day training workshop regarding human rights advocacy in Erbil

Kurdistan Region - Erbil, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Human Rights Office conducted a two-day training workshop for the staff of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Iraq who work on human rights issues on 25, 26 of May.

 

In the workshops, fourteen participants from Anbar, Diyala, Duhok, Erbil, Khanaqin, Kirkuk, and Mosul attended the capacity-building workshop. 

 

The training aimed to familiarize participants with human rights advocacy with a focus on how to develop an evidence-based human rights advocacy strategy and understanding the different types of human rights advocacy.

 

The training also focused on how to conduct a human rights analysis so as to design an effective advocacy strategy.

 

The training was participatory in nature and included plenary discussions, case studies, and role-plays. Participants were given exercises to do as part of the training which included designing advocacy messages and how to identify advocacy targets.
