Wednesday, July 14, coincides with the 63rd anniversary of the July 14 military coup, in which the monarchy has ended in Iraq.

In the morning of July 14, 1958, under the command of Abdul-Karim Qasim and several other Iraqi officers, the Iraqi government system changed from monarchy to republican which is considered one of the most important events in Iraq's history.

From the establishment of the Iraqi government until the 1958 coup, people had enough with the monarchy in Iraq and to end this situation, the Iraqi people decided to work within the framework of political parties and organizations to destroy the monarchy and, on the other hand, to try to liberate Iraq from British occupation.

For this purpose, army officers decided to establish an organization called the Free Officers Organization, which was led by Abdul-Karim Qasim.

Finally, on the morning of July 14, 1958, Abdul-Karim Qasim and liberal officers attacked the "Rehab and Zuhr" village in Baghdad and were able to overthrow the monarchy in Iraq and announce the republican system.
