On Friday, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Barham Salih, sent a congratulatory message to the people of Kurdistan and the Iraqi people on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of of the Kurdistan people's uprising.

 

Today, March 5, marks the 30th anniversary of the uprising of the people of Kurdistan, where thirty years ago today, the people of Kurdistan stood up against the oppression, injustice, and tyranny of the dictator Saddam Hussein and former Iraqi Baath regime.

 

The President's message said: 

 

I congratulate the people of Kurdistan and all the Iraqi people on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the 1991 uprising, which has become a true gateway to true change and ending the dictatorial Baath regime and establishing democracy.

 

The uprising of 1991 represented a significant and meaningful transformation, during which the people and the Peshmerga forces joined forces to end injustice and tyranny.

 

On this memory, it is necessary to esteem the values ​​of the uprising by respecting the demands and rights of the people, and ending injustice and corruption, and the people must effectively be a source of authority and legitimacy and work to provide services to citizens and to embody true national values ​​in order to be a measure of action.

 

Remembering this blessed occasion is done by working to direct the state administration towards overcoming crises and obstacles, away from conflicts and partisan interest and fighting corruption and the corrupt, and that is through the true participation of citizens with realizing their rightful demands.
