PUK's Salar Mahmoud with officials of Norway's Socialist Left Party.
Salar Mahmoud, a member of the Leadership Council and Head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's (PUK) Foreign Relations Board, visited the headquarters of Norway's Socialist Left Party in Oslo, where he was received by the party's Head of Foreign Relations, Gjermund Skaar.
The meeting was also attended by Rizgar Horini and Shakhawan Herki.
During the discussions, Mahmoud expressed his appreciation to the Norwegian political parties that played a role in securing the Norwegian Parliament's recognition of the Halabja genocide. He paid particular tribute to former lawmakers of the Socialist Left Party who visited Halabja and actively supported international recognition of the atrocity, noting that Skaar was among those parliamentarians.
For his part, Skaar reaffirmed his party's commitment to preventing future atrocities against the Kurdish people.
"We will continue to discuss ways to prevent the recurrence of genocide against the Kurdish people," he said.
He also thanked Mahmoud for his visit and praised the Kurdish community in Norway for its positive contributions and strong standing within Norwegian society.
