Iraqi President Nizar Amedi extended congratulations to Iraq’s journalists and media professionals on the occasion of the 157th anniversary of Iraqi Press Day, paying tribute to their national and professional role in conveying the truth, amplifying the voices of citizens, fostering public awareness, and contributing to the advancement of democratic values.
President Amedi's message to Iraqi Journalists said:
On the occasion of the 157th anniversary of Iraqi Press Day, I extend my sincere congratulations to Iraq’s journalists and media professionals, paying tribute to their national and professional role in conveying the truth, amplifying the voices of citizens, fostering public awareness, and contributing to the advancement of democratic values.
As we mark this occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting a safe environment that enables journalists to carry out their work freely and responsibly. Their role remains indispensable to a vibrant democratic society, helping to inform public debate and strengthen the connection between citizens and the issues that shape their daily lives.
We also remember with deep pride and gratitude the martyrs of Iraqi journalism, who sacrificed their lives in defense of truth and free expression. Their courage and dedication remain an enduring part of the nation’s memory, and their legacy will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the values of integrity, responsibility, and professional excellence.
