Al-Hasakah Governor Noureddin Issa Ahmed met with Huma Khan, the Head of the OHCHR office in Syria.
Al-Hasakah Governor Noureddin Issa Ahmed met with a delegation from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), led by Huma Khan, the Head of the organisation’s office in Syria, to discuss ways to enhance the human rights situation in the governorate and address several pressing legal and public service issues.
The discussions centred on implementing the naturalisation process for Kurdish citizens in the governorate and the practical measures taken to advance it. Both parties also reviewed progress on the administrative integration process, with the Governor outlining the stages of implementation. They reaffirmed that the strategic objective is to achieve administrative integration that will substantially improve the quality of public services and safeguard citizens’ rights.
Governor Ahmed presented the local administration’s assessment of current conditions and the challenges it faces, underscoring the importance of cooperation with international organisations in overcoming obstacles and improving human rights and living standards across the region—thus contributing to broader stability.
