UAE-based energy company Dana Gas has announced the full resumption of operations at the Khor Mor gas field in the Kurdistan Region.
In a statement obtained by PUKMEDIA, the company said: “Normal operations at the Khor Mor gas field facilities, located in the Chamchamal district, have resumed after intermittent operations over recent weeks.”
It added: “During the period in which operations were not running normally, highly cautious and safe operating procedures were implemented in close coordination with government authorities.” The statement emphasised that “the priority throughout was the safety of employees, as well as the protection of field facilities and investments.”
The Khor Mor gas field, located in Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, is one of the largest gas-producing fields in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. It is operated by Pearl Petroleum in partnership with Dana Gas and serves as the main source of gas for power generation plants across the Region.
It further pointed out that in recent years—particularly in 2023 and 2024—the field was targeted in several drone and missile attacks, including a major strike in April 2024 in which four foreign workers were killed and others injured. The company said these incidents repeatedly forced the suspension of operations, significantly affecting electricity supplies in the Kurdistan Region.
