Qubad Talabani Pledges Reforms and Investment During Halabja Visit

Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Qubad Talabani, visited Halabja Governorate, where he met with administrative officials and district directors alongside Governor Nuxsha Nasih.

At the meeting, held on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at the governorate building, a range of administrative challenges, obstacles, and shortcomings were reviewed. After hearing the concerns raised by Halabja’s officials, Talabani committed to addressing a substantial number of these issues, stressing the importance of government bodies taking the necessary steps to enhance efficiency and deliver better services to the public.

He also underlined the need to prioritise the agriculture, tourism, and agri-tourism sectors within the governorate, voicing his support for investment initiatives in these areas.

In addition, Talabani spoke about the Halabja Pomegranate Festival, calling for the development of a comprehensive strategy to expand and internationalise the event, describing it as a key opportunity to boost both agriculture and tourism in Halabja.

On the health front, he pledged to establish an intensive care unit in Halabja and to provide greater support and facilities for the victims of the chemical attack.
