Kurdistan VP Meets Russian CG to Discuss Political and Security Developments

Kurdistan Region VP Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa's meeting with Maxim Rubin, Russian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

Sheikh Jafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, met on Monday, 6 April 2026, with Maxim Rubin, Russian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the wider region, as well as relations between Russia and the Kurdistan Region. They also addressed the formation of the new government and the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, exchanging views on a number of matters of mutual interest.

The meeting further included an assessment of broader political developments, regional tensions, and the latest updates across the Middle East, safeguarding security and stability, and examining the wider repercussions of the war.
