Qubad Talabani Meets German Economic Delegation to Boost Investment in Kurdistan Region

On Thursday, 5 February 2026, Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, welcomed a senior German economic delegation in Erbil. The delegation was led by Dorsia Schütz, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and included Albrecht von Witka, the German Consul General to the Kurdistan Region.
The talks centred on the Kurdistan Region’s economic infrastructure, ongoing reforms, and potential investment opportunities. Both sides agreed that the Region offers considerable prospects for German investors to contribute to its economic growth. They also stressed the need for closer co-operation to increase the involvement of German companies and investors in developing the Kurdistan economy.
In this context, Qubad Talabani underlined the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties between the Kurdistan Region and Germany, noting that the Kurdistan Regional Government is fully prepared to offer support and facilitation to German businesses and investors.
