KRG Deputy PM Qubad Talabani.
Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, has issued a statement expressing support for Rojava. He reaffirmed that they will continue to support Rojava to restore stability and secure their rights within a permanent constitutional framework in Syria.
Deputy PM Talabani's statement read:
The Kurdish people do not ask the world for protection; we just remind them of history. This is not the first time support has been given to those who opposed the Kurds—only for the world to later realise the harm done. The Ba’athist regime was once supported against the Kurds; the Kurds endured, while the Ba’ath left behind tragedy and crime.
Those same Kurds stood on the frontlines and played a decisive role in defeating ISIS, defending not only our people but global security. What is happening today is not only an attack on the Autonomous Administration of Rojava, but an assault on Kurdish dignity everywhere. Kurdish solidarity remains our true guarantee, and we will continue to support our people in Rojava to restore stability and secure their rights within a permanent constitutional framework in Syria.
