The Internal Security Forces have successfully defended the Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood in Aleppo, rejecting claims by the Syrian Arab Army that the area had fallen to militants. Officials emphasised that the neighbourhood remains under their control and that they have thwarted multiple attacks.
While the Syrian Arab Army stated that its operations in Sheikh Maqsoud had concluded with forces deployed throughout the area, pro-Damascus militants reportedly managed to enter and seize the Shahid Khalid Fajr Hospital.
Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported that militants attempted to infiltrate Sheikh Maqsoud from the Zahour district but were repelled by the Internal Security Forces, suffering heavy losses. The assailants were forced to retreat, using three ambulances to remove their dead. Clashes continued on three fronts, and the Internal Security Forces also successfully shot down three drones deployed by the militants.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the death toll has reached 62, including 37 civilians — seven women and five children — and 115 wounded. Among the casualties are 25 militants and one member of the Internal Security Forces.
The Internal Security Forces’ swift response and effective defence have ensured that Sheikh Maqsoud remains secure despite ongoing hostilities.
