Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) Political Bureau and part of its negotiating team, confirmed that there are differing opinions between the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) regarding the formation of the new government in the Kurdistan Region.
Speaking at a press conference, Darbaz Kosrat said: “Our meeting with the KDP was open and candid, with both sides outlining their perspectives on establishing the new government.”
He added: “We hope the higher interests of the people of Kurdistan will take precedence over narrow partisan views. All Kurdish parties should enter a new phase and let the coming year strengthen unity and harmony.”
Rasul clarified: “Overall, there are no major disagreements between the PUK and KDP regarding the formation of the new cabinet of Kurdistan Regional Government, but differing viewpoints remain. The context before the parliamentary elections was different from today, and we must work together to resolve all issues concerning both the Region and Baghdad.”
