Talks between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) are expected to resume this week as part of ongoing efforts to form the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet. A source confirmed that the meeting is scheduled to take place midweek in Erbil and will focus on mechanisms for establishing the next cabinet.
The resumption of dialogue follows remarks by Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, who stated during a press conference on 23 November 2025 that the PUK is fully prepared to restart negotiations. “We, as the PUK, were engaged in dialogue with our brothers in the KDP until the height of the election campaign, and we are now ready to resume dialogue to form the new regional government cabinet,” he said.
Qubad Talabani also addressed the broader political landscape in Baghdad, underscoring the need for inclusive dialogue among all Iraqi parties to ensure the formation of an effective government capable of delivering quality services to citizens. He reaffirmed that Kurdish political forces view the Presidency of the Republic as a constitutional entitlement for the Kurdish people.
