Iraqi President, Turkish Ambassador Discuss Cooperation on Regional Stability and Water Issues

Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received Anil Bora Inan, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Iraq, at Baghdad Palace on Monday, 1 December 2025.
At the outset of the meeting, Ambassador Inan offered his condolences to President Rashid on the passing of his brother, the late Shamal Jamal Rashid. President Rashid, in turn, conveyed his greetings to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, and extended his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Turkish people.
During the meeting, President Rashid emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two friendly nations and expanding the horizons of partnership in ways that serve common interests and promote regional stability. He highlighted the need for collaboration to resolve water-related challenges, ensuring Iraq receives a fair share to meet its agricultural and irrigation requirements.
President Rashid also underscored the significance of reinforcing positive measures regarding the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region.
For his part, Ambassador Inan expressed appreciation for the bilateral relations, affirming Türkiye’s commitment to continued cooperation across various fields and coordination on matters of shared interest.
