Qubad Talabani, a member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), affirmed that the PUK is the party of the people, trusted by citizens who believe that their key demands in Baghdad can only be fulfilled through it.
On Thursday, 6 November 2025, Qubad Talabani visited the city of Ranya, where he met with various groups from the Bitwen and Pishdar areas within the Raparin administration. In a statement, he wrote: “The proud people of the Raparin administration regard themselves as the true supporters of the PUK, and they continuously stress that the PUK must have a strong role in the new regional government.”
Talabani added: “A year has passed, yet the government of the Kurdistan Region has still not been formed. As President Bafel Jalal Talabani has stated and as we have reiterated to the people of Raparin and Kurdistan as a whole, we will listen to the citizens, and the PUK will act in accordance with the will of the people.” He emphasised that “the PUK today is stronger than ever, and its words are matched by its actions.”
He went on to explain that “since the PUK’s founding, its opponents have repeatedly sought to weaken its position in the Raparin region, but the steadfast people of the area have always defeated them — and I am confident that this time too, they will once again send them away empty-handed.” He concluded that “no force can drive a wedge between the PUK and the Raparin region.”
