Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Head of the Supreme Interests Protection Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), attended a public rally in the Raparin Administration of Sulaymaniyah on Wednesday evening, 22 October 2025. The event was organised in support of the PUK’s List No. 222.
In his address, Sheikh Jaafar highlighted the proud history of struggle and sacrifice of the PUK and its supporters. He recalled that the party was founded during a time of frustration and despair among the people of Kurdistan, yet quickly succeeded in overcoming that despair and thwarting attempts to weaken the will of the Kurdish people. He noted that during the national uprising, the PUK achieved significant national gains for the Kurdish people.
Sheikh Jaafar explained that the current stage differs from previous ones, as today’s struggle takes place within a democratic and parliamentary framework—two defining features of this era. He stressed that the people of Kurdistan must recognise this reality and their power to bring about meaningful change through elections and voting.
He further underlined that “nominating the largest number of qualified individuals on the PUK’s List No. 222 will help achieve major national and regional progress and enable the enactment of laws that serve the interests of the people of Kurdistan.”
