Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Kurdistan Region Vice President, affirmed that the role of Global Coalition forces in the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) remains “necessary and effective” for preserving peace and stability in the region.

The Vice President made the remarks during a meeting on Monday, 22 September 2025, with Colonel Sebastian Klink, Commander of the German forces within the Global Coalition, and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed the latest regional security developments, continued German military support for the Peshmerga, and the importance of unity among political parties in advancing the reform process and completing the unification of the Peshmerga forces.

Colonel Klink reaffirmed that Germany’s cooperation with the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga forces will continue.
