Darbaz Kosrat Meets U.S. Diplomats to Discuss Recent Developments

Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Relations Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), today received Steven Fagin, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Iraq, at the Political Bureau headquarters in Erbil.
The meeting was also attended by Wendy Green, US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, during which they discussed the current situation in the region, relations among political forces and parties, as well as ties between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The discussions further addressed the upcoming parliamentary elections, public sector salaries, outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, and the export of oil from the Kurdistan Region. Darbaz Kosrat Rasul underlined that “the salaries of the people should be separated from political bargaining and election campaigning.”
The issue of forming the tenth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government was also raised. Darbaz Kosrat Rasul stressed that the talks between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) are positive and moving towards a common understanding.
