PUK Peshmerga Officer Earns Master’s Degree from a US Military University

Colonel Engineer Murad Tariq Jabari
As part of the joint training programme between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the International Coalition Forces, Colonel Engineer Murad Tariq Jabari — an officer from the Ministry of Peshmerga and a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Peshmerga — has earned a master’s degree from the National Defense University in the United States, specialising in international strategic security studies. In addition to his master’s, he also obtained two further academic qualifications.
The course lasted one year and included participation from officers representing 74 countries, including the United States. This year’s graduation ceremony was held on 12 June, attended by the President of the National Defense University and the deans of its four constituent colleges.
The National Defense University is regarded as the most prestigious military university in the United States and globally. Each year, officers from various countries, alongside American military personnel, graduate from the institution with advanced academic degrees.
The National Defense University (NDU), is a higher education institution funded by the US Department of Defense and based in Washington, D.C. The university is dedicated to providing advanced education and training to military and civilian leaders, while also contributing to the development of the United States’ national security strategy.
