A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) engaged in talks with Türkiye's Republican People’s Party (CHP), addressing a range of significant issues, including the peace process in Türkiye.
The PUK delegation, led by Dr. Jwan Ihsan, a member of the Political Bureau, met with CHP leader Özgür Özel in Istanbul. Their discussions focused on the political and security situation in the region, with particular emphasis on recent developments in Türkiye’s peace process.
Both parties stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation among all sides to ensure political and stability and to shield the region from escalating tensions.
As members of the Socialist International, the PUK and CHP also agreed to align their political efforts with the principles of international socialism, aiming to foster regional prosperity and address shared challenges.
Dr. Jwan Ihsan stated, “The PUK is committed to a balanced national approach on all political matters, and we regard dialogue as the most effective means of resolving disputes and conflicts.” She added, “We continue to follow the path set by President Mam Jalal in our commitment to the peace process. At this pivotal time, we believe regional stability relies on a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish issue.”
The two parties agreed to deepen bilateral ties and pursue the reduction of regional tensions through dialogue and diplomatic means.
