The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has reaffirmed its support for the Yazidi community, clarifying that it has no involvement in an upcoming conference on Yazidism reportedly planned to take place in Germany.
A source from the PUK Political Bureau stated on Saturday, 24 May 2025, that the party is not connected in any way to the event and emphasised that the PUK does not impose any conditions on its support for Yazidi-related activities, whether inside or outside the country.
"The PUK maintains its longstanding and consistent stance of respecting the beliefs and traditions of all religious and ethnic groups in Kurdistan, including those of Yazidi Kurds," the source said.
The source reaffirmed the party's commitment to supporting any initiatives undertaken by the Yazidi community, stressing that it does so without interfering in their internal matters.
"The PUK views Yazidi affairs as matters to be determined by the community itself, in line with democratic principles," the source added.
