Saadi Ahmed Pire, PUK Spokesman.
Saadi Ahmed Pire, the Spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), confirmed that discussions between the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) have been productive. The PUK's negotiating team emphasised the importance of properly distributing powers among government officials.
In an interview with Kurdsat News, Pire explained: "During the joint meeting between the PUK and the KDP, it was agreed to establish a joint committee to follow up on the issues that need to be addressed ahead of the next meeting, including the distribution of powers and the working mechanisms for the forthcoming government. It is crucial that powers are not duplicated across ministries and government bodies, so we must carefully review the distribution of authority and work together to establish the government."
He continued: "Our aim is to form a strong, united government that serves the people of the Kurdistan Region. The government must earn the trust of the citizens and establish an effective parliament that can tackle the challenges facing them. We are focused on correcting the course of governance, which is a demand shared by all political parties."
Pire concluded by stating that the joint committee will be tasked with discussing the agenda for the next meeting between the PUK and the KDP.
