The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Babylon factions have announced that the Kirkuk Provincial Council session will be postponed until the beginning of next week to allow the political factions more time.

The PUK and Babylon factions stated that some political factions on the Kirkuk Provincial Council had requested more time to plan their participation in the upcoming provincial council session. In response, they said in a joint statement: "As per the request of the honourable Prime Minister and the leaders of the national political factions to allow more time for the remaining members, we have decided to reschedule today's session, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, to the beginning of next week."

"Our priority is to ensure the completion of the necessary steps for establishing the next local administration, with the participation of all relevant parties in the province, in a manner that benefits citizens," the joint statement stated.
