DPM Talabani & German Delegation Discuss Collaboration for Sinjar's Stability

The meeting of DPM & German Delegation
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with a delegation from the German government, headed by Ms. Luise Amtsberg, the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Assistance. They deliberated on the status of IDPs, with a particular focus on the Yezidi IDPs.
The meeting, convened on Tuesday (July 23, 2024) in Erbil, prioritised safeguarding the rights of all IDPs, with a particular focus on the Yezidi IDPs in the Kurdistan Region.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the German government delegation agreed that it is imperative for all parties to collaborate in order to uphold stability in Sinjar. This would enable the IDPs to return to their homes without fear or distress.
The Deputy Prime Minister strongly supported the need to restore stability in that region and emphasised the importance of further involvement by the German government and the international community.
DPM Talabani: Elections Should Be Held on Schedule
Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister, met with Thomas Seiler, the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq.
The topic of discussion at the meeting, which took place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in Erbil, was how to support the Kurdistan Region's youth to develop their creative and entrepreneurial abilities. The Deputy Prime Minister discussed his goals and strategies for empowering youth in this area, including the Foundation Hub initiative, which is set to open soon.
In light of this, Talabani urged the EU to provide the Kurdistan Region with additional support in order to help the Region's youth to become more creative and innovative, as this project will increase youth employment opportunities and aid in the growth of small businesses.
Talabani said: "The success of the Foundation Hub project and the development of small businesses is also in the interest of the EU as it will have an impact on reducing the rate of illegal migration of youth."
During a different part of the meeting, the topic of the upcoming elections of the Kurdistan Parliament was deliberated. Talabani emphasised the significance of conducting elections to safeguard the credibility of the government bodies in the Kurdistan Region. He also emphasised the need to hold elections on the scheduled date determined by the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region.
