Iraqi Parliament Extends IHEC Operations for Six Months

In the
session held on Tuesday, the Iraqi parliament agreed on the second amendment to
the Law of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) in Iraq. As a
result, the Commission's term has been extended for an additional six months.
Dr. Briar Rashid, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc,
informed PUKMEDIA that the
Iraqi parliament has approved the second amendment to the Election Commission
Law. As a result, the Commission will remain operational until January 1, 2025.
He stated that Kurdistan Parliament elections must be conducted within this
timeframe, with supervision from the IHEC.
