PUK President: Citizens' Lives Must Not be Intertwined with Political Disputes

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Yann Braem, Consul General of France in the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting deliberated on the most recent political advancements, including the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad. It underscored the importance of ongoing negotiations to address these concerns and adhere to the constitution and political accords.

President Bafel reiterated the PUK's dedication to addressing the concerns and achieving a favourable resolution for all matters. He stated that, "the lives of the citizens and the general stability of the nation should not be intertwined with political disputes. Everyone must act responsibly when it comes to the lives of citizens, and efforts must be towards a more stable future rather than exacerbating disputes."

Regarding the elections in the Kurdistan Region and the conduct of the process, President Bafel expressed that the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region will be characterised by increased democracy, allowing individuals to choose their genuine representatives, which marks a significant step towards transforming the governance system and enhancing the Kurdistan Region's stability.
