Sheikh Jaafar, Dutch CG Stress Netherlands-Kurdistan Relations Maintenance

Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, met with the Consul General of the Netherlands, Jaco Beerends, who was accompanied by Col. Bart Kouwenberg, Commander of the International Coalition of Advisors to the Dutch Forces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting concentrated on the most recent security and political developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the state of peace and stability in the surrounding region. There was also a discussion about how the Netherlands and the Kurdistan Region can better coordinate and strengthen diplomatic relations. They discussed the military situation, the reform process, Peshmerga reunification, and several other shared concerns.
Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa emphasized the importance of maintaining connections between the Netherlands and the Kurdistan Region. He saw negotiations between Iraq's political parties and the Kurdistan Region as necessary, in light of the volatile conditions in the surrounding region, to resolve issues following the Constitution and defend the country's most important interests. He stressed the actions and procedures required to speed up the reunification process with the reform and reunification of the Peshmerga forces under the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.
The guest delegation emphasized their commitment to continued cooperation and advancing relations with the Kurdistan Region. They also expressed a willingness to assist in resolving issues and maintaining stability in Iraq and the region, while also praising the Kurdistan Region and its Peshmerga forces for their contributions to the fight against ISIS. It was further hoped that negotiations between Baghdad and Erbil would help to address the challenges and restore stability to the security, political, and economic landscapes.
