PUK's Head of Media Board meets Chinese CG
Latif Nerwayi, Head of the Media Board of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's (PUK) Media and Awareness Bureau, paid a visit to the Chinese Consulate in Erbil and met with Liu Jun, the People's Republic of China's Consul General.
Nerwayi congratulated Jun on his appointment as China's Consul General in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, he discussed President Mam Jalal's contribution to cultivating the current strong links between Kurdistan, Iraq, and China, which is currently Iraq's third-largest trading partner.
He declared that, following the PUK's fifth congress and the election of its president, political bureau, and new leadership council, a critical phase in consolidating and organizing the Kurdish home had been completed.
Nerwayi emphasized the PUK's significant victory in the provincial council elections held in Kirkuk, Nineveh, Khanaqin, and other disputed areas during another part of the meeting.
Furthermore, he advocated for strengthening ties with China, particularly with Chinese media organizations, by leveraging Chinese media agencies' extensive expertise.
The Chinese CG emphasized the historical importance of the two countries' relations. He also praised President Mam Jalal for his role in strengthening ties between China, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq.
Both parties emphasized the closeness and history of the Chinese Communist Party and the PUK, as well as the critical role that journalism and media play in increasing mutual understanding between the Chinese and Kurdish populations.
