Qubad Talabani at Sulaymaniyah Book Fair
The fifth Sulaymaniyah International Book
Fair opened on Thursday, with the presence of Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime
Minister Qubad Talabani, Minister of Culture Hama Hama Saeed, Sulaymaniyah
Governor Haval Abubakr, and numerous writers and intellectuals. This event
features a vast collection of thousands of titles and approximately five
million books.
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani
said: "As Kurdistan's cultural capital, Sulaymaniyah has the right to host
an annual book exhibition. This event will give readers the chance to purchase
books at a reduced cost, and the number of book readers in the capital will
rise."
"I'm a book reader, and I want to
keep the books I read separate from my political career. I express my gratitude
to Sulaymaniyah's governor, the minister of culture, publishing houses, and
libraries. They have contributed significantly to the growth of this city's
culture," he added.
Over 200 publishing and cultural
institutions from the region, Iraq, and around the world will be present at the
fifth Sulaymaniyah International Book Fair, which runs for ten days.
