A senior military delegation from the United Kingdom, led by Air Marshal Sammy Sampson, Senior Advisor to the Chief of Defence Staff for the Middle East and North Africa, met with Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani. Several topics of mutual interest were discussed during the discussion.

The internal situation in the Kurdistan Region and the reform process of the Ministry of Peshmerga were discussed at the meeting, which took place in Erbil on Wednesday and was attended by the acting British Consul General. The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party recently had productive conversations and that there is a good understanding to resolve the issues.

"The attempts are targeted at resolving problems within the Peshmerga Ministry, and we are optimistic that all of the ministry's problems will be handled quickly with the involvement and support of all parties, which will accelerate the reform process in the Peshmerga forces," he added.

In this regard, the senior British military delegation reiterated their support for the Kurdistan Region, particularly the ongoing reforms of the Ministry of Peshmerga.

During the meeting, the security situation in the surrounding area, including Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, was also discussed. Both sides agreed that coalition forces must remain in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in order to maintain security and stability in the country, and they emphasized the importance of the Iraqi government and its allies stepping up efforts to prevent any actions or movements that could lead to tension and instability in the country.
