The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has not distributed the salaries of the joint brigades of the Peshmerga Ministry, and an MP in the Kurdistan Parliament said: "This is not the first time that the joint brigades' salaries have been postponed while the United States has assumed responsibility for their salaries."
Although the joint brigades of the Peshmerga Ministry were supposed to receive their salaries today, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, it was postponed to this week's end.
Osman Sedari, Deputy Chairman of the Peshmerga Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, told PUKMEDIA: "The US contributes roughly $25 million each month for the salaries of the joint brigades of the Peshmerga Ministry, but for some reason, the payment of their salary is always delayed."
"There are times when the salaries of the Peshmerga Ministry's joint brigades are distributed after two months, yet the US sends the required amount of money to the region each month, but the KRG routinely delays salary payments for unknown reasons," he continued.
Previously, a source in the KRG's Ministry of Finance and Economy told PUKMEDIA that the salaries of the joint brigades of the Peshmerga Ministry would be given out on Tuesday.
