President Mam Jalal's historic plea for supporting Kurdistan's ownership of Kirkuk
The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, released a statement on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of President Mam Jalal's historic appeal to the Governing Council on the identity of Kirkuk Province.
It has been 19 years since President Mam Jalal made his historic plea for supporting Kurdistan's ownership of Kirkuk and the disputed territories with historical and legal proof.
President Mam Jalal has fought and worked hard throughout history to preserve Kirkuk and its identity, which clearly demonstrates that the PUK has never compromised on Kurdistan's land and never will. Our solid and unwavering vision of Kirkuk as a Kurdish city is crystal clear. The harmony and coexistence among the various nationalities and cultures in the city have not gone unnoticed, and we have protected them.
We are following the path of President Mam Jalal by learning from his vast experiences. In order to confirm the activation of Article 140 of the Constitution in the work plan of the new government, we worked over the previous period from his house to gather all the votes. We will do everything possible to put it into practice.
We honor the bravery and tenacity of the glorious Kirkuk people, and we tell them that their city was and will always be known as Kurdistan's Jerusalem.
