For the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, a senior Turkmen official in Kirkuk states they are against using a single electoral district.
"The electoral law (single-electoral district) adopted in 2003 is outdated and does not match with the reality of the Kurdistan Region," famous Turkmen figure Ali Hussain told GK Radio. "The Kurdistan parliamentary elections should therefore be held in multiple electoral districts, and we Turkmen are against using a single electoral district."
He continued, "We ask them to remain the authentic representatives of the Turkmen and not to fall under the influence of any party. Some Turkmen in Erbil are being used by a party for party goals."
