U.S. Consulate: Badinan detainees' defense counsel was under death threats

The U.S. Consulate General in Erbil congratulated the defense counsel of the Badinan detainees on receiving the U.S. Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Affairs' International Human Rights Defense Award.
The US Consulate General said on their official Facebook page: "Join us in congratulating Bashdar Hassan, Reving Yassin, Ramazan Artisi, Kamaran Taha, Shorish Karim, Rebaz Wsu, Karzan Rashid, and Faraidoun Fadhil, the defense counsel for the #Badinan detainees, for receiving the Global Human Rights Defender Awards from the Department of State’s U.S. Department of State: Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, & Labor."
It added: "This team of defense lawyers served their clients and advanced the rule of law at great personal and professional risk, including intimidation, harassment, and anonymous death threats. Our goal in Iraq, including the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, is to help our Iraqi partners improve protection of human rights, including the right to a fair trial." Congrats again to the Badinan legal team for receiving this award."
