PUK attempts to resolve the issues between Erbil and Baghdad

The Iraqi Finance Minister is not ready to send the 400 billion dinars to the Kurdistan Region since the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has not yet sent the final costs and earnings.

"The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) team in the government and Erbil officials have not submitted any case to Baghdad to settle the concerns, on the contrary, they have stood against the PUK, which is striving to fix the issues," a member of the Iraqi Parliament stated.

In recent discussions with Ammar al-Hakim and Hadi al-Amiri, Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), stated that there is a national intention to settle the disputes between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad based on the constitution. "To resolve this matter and begin a new chapter in our political relations, all sides must support and cooperate in order to do so," he continued.

Erbil and Baghdad will come together once the concerns are resolved
Aeid Hilali, a member of the Coordination Framework, told PUKMEDIA that the new Iraqi government included resolving the problems between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in its work program. This will help the two governments achieve their objectives and grow closer.

Hilali stated, "It is regrettable that the KRG and the KDP team in the government and Erbil officials have not presented any case to Baghdad to settle the concerns and, instead, are against other parties in the region who strive for resolving the issues such as the PUK.

He continued, "The Erbil authorities should realize that it is very necessary to create a consensus with the Kurdish groups and travel to Baghdad in unity and as a team to settle the difficulties."

The Kurdistan Region's residents "should not pay the price for political troubles," he continued. "We endorse the PUK's recommendations for the salaries and welfare of citizens."

In order to forge a powerful national government that upholds the rights of the Kurdish people, President Bafel Jalal Talabani has been striving to bring the parties closer together.

During his meeting with President Bafel Jalal Talabani, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Sudani said that the constitution will serve as the basis for addressing the conflicts between Erbil and Baghdad.
