When the Iraqi Prime Minister met with the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan  (PUK), he pledged to fulfill the rights and financial obligations owed to the Kurdistan Region.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, The PUK's President, travelled to Baghdad on Saturday, December 24, to attend a number of crucial political talks about the state of affairs in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

He spoke with Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Fayaq Zedan, Secretary General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement Qais al-Khazali, and Al-Azim Alliance Leader Muthana Al-Samarai.

President Bafel is continually working to reunite the parties and create a powerful national administration that upholds the rights of the Kurdish people.

The head of the PUK's Baghdad Center stated: "The demand of the PUK is the demand of the Kurdish people."

The PUK actively promoted communication between the parties
The PUK led by President Bafel succeeded in bringing the political parties closer together following the early elections in Iraq and the creation of an unfavorable political situation, shattering the dream of instability in Iraq, and forming a government in which all Iraqi parties are represented and Kurdish rights are upheld.

Head of the PUK's Baghdad Center Rabiha Hamad told PUKMEDIA: "After the early elections and the impasse in the Iraqi political process, an undesirable situation emerged, but the PUK has actively contributed to bringing the political parties together and changing the aspirations that, in the interests of a few parties, led Iraq to political instability."
All parties recognize the PUK's importance
All political parties involved in the government recognize the PUK's contribution, particularly the Iraqi Prime Minister, who is aware of the PUK's important role, according to Hamad.

"The parties were able to reach forming a national consensus government by the effort of President Bafel," Hamad said.
We will keep an eye on how the government's plan is being carried out
"The visits of the PUK President and his talks with the political parties of the State Administration Coalition, particularly with the Iraqi prime minister, are meant to monitor the government's implementation of its policies, particularly the policies that the PUK recommended," Hamad said.
The PUK's requests are taken seriously
The Iraqi government "takes seriously the aspirations of the PUK, which are the needs of the Kurdish people, and actions will be taken to implement the government's agenda in the service of the Kurdish people and other Iraqi communities," she continued.
The PUK President supports a powerful national government in Iraq
The PUK and President Bafel have consistently backed the establishment of a strong national government that upholds the rights of the Kurdistan Region. President Bafel gathered the opposing political parties for this reason in order to reach a consensus on a national project to create a government that serves the people.

"President Bafel played an active and influential role in the formation of the new Iraqi government and supported the formation of a strong national government in which the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region are protected," said Rawand Sabir, a member of the PUK Relations Bureau, to PUKMEDIA.

"President Bafel was able to convene the political forces and parties in Iraq at Mam Jalal's house, which has always served as a gatherer of the political parties to come to an agreement on a national project to form a government and this has elevated the PUK's political standing in Baghdad, "he added.
The political crisis in Iraq was averted
Every political group and party now respects President Bafel's political efforts since the PUK was able to save Iraq from a serious political crisis, Sabir said.
