Kurdish basketballer becomes captain of Iraq's national team

For the first time in history, a Kurdish basketballer was chosen to be the captain of the Iraqi basketball team in an official tournament.
Diyari Arkan, a Kurdish basketball player from Slemani's Derbandikhan district, has been chosen by the coach of the national team as captain to lead his team during the West Asian Basketball Championship.
Diyari has previously played for the Iraqi youth team and participated in several foreign tournaments. He is the first player in the history of Derbandikhan to wear the Iraqi national team shirt.
