CPJ awards IPFA 2022 to Kurdish Journalist Niyaz Abdullah

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) presented its 2022 International Press Freedom Award (IPFA) to Kurdish Journalist Niyaz Abdullah.

Niaz Abdullah told PUKmedia that the award was announced a few days ago by CPJ in the United States, and she was one of the four journalists who were given the award.

"IPFA is presented annually to four journalists by CPJ, and for this year, four journalists will be presented the award. Me and three other journalists from Cuba, Ukraine, and Vietnam, will be honored, and the ceremony is scheduled to be held in the United States on November 17, 2022," she explained.

"The award aims to respect and encourage journalists who use their ability to convey their country's news to the world," said Niyaz Abdullah.

CPJ's annual IPFA will honor courageous journalists from around the world on Thursday, November 17, 2022, in New York City. This year’s dinner will be chaired by Shari Redstone, who leads Paramount Global.

According to CPJ, the 2022 IPFA honorees are Niyaz Abdullah, Iraqi Kurdistan, Abraham Jiménez Enoa, Cuba, Sevgil Musaieva, Ukraine, and Pham Doan Trang, Vietnam.
