Iraq and Iran discuss ways for cooperation between their museums

On Sunday, the Federal Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, discussed ways of cooperation between the Iraqi and Iranian Museums.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities stated, "Nazim visited the National Museum of Iran in Tehran today and reviewed its exhibits of antiquities, manuscripts, and valuables dating back to different stages of Iranian civilization."

The minister was accompanied by the head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Laith Majid Hussein, and a number of the ministry's general managers toured the halls of the museum, which is one of the most famous museums in the world.

According to the statement, During the visit, they discussed ways of cooperation between the Iraqi and Iranian museums, exchanging experiences and employing modern technologies, and exchanging scientific and development visits between the cadres of the two institutions.

For its part, the Iranian Museum expressed its willingness to cooperate with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage and conclude a memorandum of understanding regarding this vital sector.

The Federal Ministry of Culture indicated that the National Museum of Iran, which contains nearly 300,000 antiquities pieces spread over an area of more than 20,000 square meters, is one of the most famous museums in the world in terms of its area capacity, diversity, and quality of its huge monuments, as well as being the mother museum in Iran, and it aims to preserve the effects of the past and pass them on to future generations and provide a better understanding among the people and countries of the world, and the role of these monuments in shaping global culture and civilization and trying to enhance public knowledge.
