Demirtaş: I am honored to receive the Ibrahim Ahmed Award

Selahattin Demirtaş, the former co-chair of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey, offered his thanks to the organizers of the Ibrahim Ahmad award.

The Ibrahim Ahmad award -called Bla Awards- and its distribution ceremony took place at the Art Building in Slemani on Thursday, where 8  distinguished and well-known figures received the award.

the award was given to Badia Dartash, Selahattin Demirtaş, Dr. Saad Bashir Iskandar, Amna Suraka Museum, Jamila Jalil, Nasrin Mohammed Abdullah, Shahram Nazeri and Salahi Ashti.

Offering his thanks, Demirtaş said in a letter to the Ibrahim Ahmed Foundation, that being awarded the Ibrahim Ahmed Award is a great honor, thanking the efforts of the supervisors of the annual award.

"This honor expands my responsibility towards the people of Kurdistan," he added, stressing that it motivates him to do more work and make more efforts to be worthy of the prize.

The Bla Awards is provided by the Ibrahim Ahmad Foundation and is a dedication to the writer, politician, and intellectual Ibrahim Ahmad who was born in Slemani on March 6, 1914. He was a spring of thought and creativity. In addition to being one of the pioneers in writing stories and novels, he was a prominent poet and journalist. He was a politician and a struggler for the rights of the Kurdish people. 

Ahmad is also the father of Mrs. Hero Ibrahim Ahmad, wife of late President Mam Jalal and former first lady of Iraq, and Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed who is an Administrator at the political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. 

The Bla Awards are distributed annually to many personalities and figures who have made important achievements in the different fields of life.
